No bones about it, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is one of my all-time favourite films to watch every October, when spooky season starts. As a huge fan of both the director and Stephen King, this movie just chills me to the core. It’s not the scariest, but the isolation and the slow decent of a father/husband into madness resonates with me.
Then, tack on some supernatural spooks and a layout/geography that makes no sense, and you’ve got movie that leaves me a more than a little rattled. And the fact that the hotel has it’s roots in some true events, makes it all the more creepy.
