You’d think it would be a pretty easy premise to write a movie about a relentless killer in a William Shatner mask, who just won’t stop killing. And while the original and its sequel are stellar pieces of horror movie filmmaking, somehow, the franchise got off track. Thankfully, after a decade away, we’ve gotten a fantastic version of Laurie Strode and The Shape in 2018 to keep us terrified at night, with plenty more to come.
In between, however, there were some shitty ideas that never made it out of development hell. Now, to be fair, there were some fascinating plot points that probably would have been better than what we got with the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th films, but overall, these ideas should have stayed dead.
Michael Myers shouldn’t be a spectacle of violence, but an amoral force of nature. Just how I like him.
