I get that our bodies have been incredibly fine-tuned over thousands & thousands of years of evolution, and that ultimately they are capable of incredible things. Overall, they truly are amazing. I get it. And yet…dammit if they don’t do some straight-up dumb shit that is absolutely detrimental to our overall health.
For example, I have literally been sitting perfectly happy, healthy and content when out of nowhere I’m struck by a charley horse that causes my calf muscle to seize up so badly that for the next couple weeks I’m walking around with a limp. I get that maybe I was dehydrated or overdid it at the gym — OK, fine. So, body, give me sore muscles in that case that let me know gracefully & gradually that I am in fact due for a needed break. But going from zero to hundred only ends up keeping me out of the gym for weeks preventing any necessary cardio after long days of sitting at a desk.
The point is, I get most of these things probably have a reason for why they happen to us, but sometimes there’s a better way to get the message across to us poor unsuspecting people.
