In the movie business, timing is everything. You need to make sure that your release isn’t up against someone else’s monster, and the movie needs to stand out in the crowded landscape of other releases. Which probably explains this baffling trend of Christmas movies popping out during the hottest part of the year.
On one hand, it seems wrong to talk holidays and snow, when the pavement is turning into a sea of scorching, molten asphalt, but then again, maybe Hollwyood’s onto something. It’s not like you’re drowning in Christmas icons and music in mid-summer, so maybe, we’re more receptive to it?
Still seems weird to me, though.
