While it seems like lately the entire world’s been on fire with the wildfires in California, and the Amazon Rainforest burning last year and the current ecological disaster in Australia, it’s actually nothing new. Parts of the world have been continuously on fire for decades (if not centuries).
In most cases, it’s our fault for disturbing pockets of natural gas with our habits, and a lot of them are pretty benign and cool to look at. Some of them, however, are also pretty scary. I’d tread lightly.
