Test footage from 2005 of a canned George Lucas project titled Star Wars: Underworld has resurfaced, sparking online interest into what could have been.
The scene shows a cloaked woman slinking through dark corridors that wind beneath a flurry of neon and flying cars, a setting in sci-fi that universally means “up to something sketchy.” As Storm Troopers patrol the area, she sneakily receives from a street vendor what can only be highly sensitive and important intel, then not-so-sneakily displays a hologram of the intel at a nearby computer terminal. As she tries to buy a ship and peace out of there, she gets popped by the Troopers. A shootout ensues, and everybody somehow misses each other while blasting away at pointblank range (yup, this definitely feels like Lucas’s Star Wars). The second half is a behind-the-scenes look at how it was all done.
