You can’t argue against the fact that we’re living in the golden age of games. They’re no longer made with shitty graphics, played in a basement on a tiny screen, but a full-on immersive experience that really pushes the boundaries of tech. And the fact that we can multiplayer from all corners of the globe, is an achievement that can’t be overstated. But while gaming has only gotten more advanced, the only thing that hasn’t gotten better, is the difficulty. In fact, games today are too fucking easy.
Remember the good old NES/SNES days, with limited lives, barely any checkpoints and a whole “fuck you” mentality from programmers? Back then, you played the game in one sitting, and you played it perfectly, or else you didn’t finish. Plus, there was no internet, no collective consciousness to help you. You figured it out with your friends and with the latest edition of Nintendo Power.
I’m convinced that if you game these games to the young gamers of today, they’d never see the success that we did. Search your feelings. You know this to be true.
