Maybe you know this, or maybe you don’t, but movies are seldom, if almost never, shot in chronological order. Depending on what locations they’re using, actors’ availabilities, and equipment rentals, they have to group things together and be as efficient and cost effective as possible. If you’ve got 10 scenes in someone’s house, those are shot all at the same time, then spread out throughout the film.
Every once in a while, however, a film is shot exactly as it’s meant to play out, for a wide variety of reasons. These films below are some of the best, and they use the chronological shoot schedule in a way that services the plot and the emotional fallout of the film.
