Not a lot of first time directors can nail it on their first try, especially in a genre as subjective as Science Fiction. Most will try something easier, and work their way up, while other directors won’t even attempt this genre. Then, there’s these guys.
Right out of the gate they’ve got a cult hit on their hands, and some of them will spend the rest of their career trying to top it. Others take this success and run with it.
I either case, I’m happy to sit down and watch all of these on an endless loop and hope for a brighter future then what I’m being shown.
