Scientists using a radio telescope in Chile, and another in Hawaii, scanned planet Venus for phosphine gas with the initial goal of determining that the planet had limitations, and instead found the exact opposite. Now, after discovering rare molecules in the clouds above the planet’s surface, scientists have suggested the potential for signs of alien life on Venus.
The molecules discovered in Venus’s clouds suggest colonies of living microbes residing in an oxygen-free environment. Scientists have long speculated the potential of life surviving in Venus’s atmosphere as it has a much more modest climate compared to the planet’s surface, which sits at over 400°C.
