All the way back in 1985, the Apache attack helicopter had the ability to link “slave” the pilots’ helmet to the M230 Chain Gun. As the video shows, the gun tracks with the gunner’s head movement. When it came out, Apaches could hunt the enemy both Day and Night by using the helmet’s Sighting System. Through the eye display, thermal cams (Infrared Radiation) used moon/star light to see, target and then fire the gun’s devastating 30-mm rounds at a rate of 10-PEW PEWs per second.
Over the years, the display has gotten more advanced but the “looks can kill” has stayed the same.
