Killer Bees
Purpose: Bred by humans to increase honey production
Result: Were shit at making honey, were super aggressive, escaped and killed a bunch of people
Back in the 1950s, Brazilian scientists were experimenting with ways to boost the country’s honey production. In a laboratory, they mixed the African Bee with the European Honeybee, hoping the hybrid species would produce more honey. Instead, the “Africanized Bees” produced less of it — they preferred to spend their energy on breeding as fast as possible.
