Authors spend so much time working on characters that it makes sense that we begin to relate to them. That is what makes their deaths so much more difficult to deal with. Yeah, they aren’t real, but we have invested so much of our time and energy into a show or game that it doesn’t change the pain we feel when these characters were killed off.
