It started here at the Mayan ruins at the Yucatan Peninsula where I first learned about the tangible value and historical significance of gold. At this exact spot in the Tulum Archeological Zone, in the bay beneath the Temple of the Frescoes, Spanish galleons picked up their gold and silver ingots and began their journey back to Spain.
