From the twisted mind that brought you Cicadageddon, Sexy Furby, and Rag-doll Husband, comes a story you donut want to miss.
Allow me to introduce… Bread Face!
Glutton for gluten, Bread Face, is known for one thing – smashing her face into baked goods.
From funnel-cake to naan, sliced white to rye, Bread Face mushes her money-maker into all manner of dough, amassing 154k on her Instagram account, @breadfaceblog.
With the tagline “giving people something they didn’t ask for,” the 34-year-old (face) breaker of bread always had a tactile fascination with food, explaining to Business Insider, “When I would describe this urge to my friends, they’d always laugh, so I figured it would make other people laugh too. I liked knowing that it could potentially cheer someone up who’s having a bad day.”
Most videos begin the same. Face partially obscured, Bread Face (who also goes by Bread Face Girl and Your Bread Queen) sets up a baked good, then smashes her face in it, while music plays in the background.
While Bread Face’s content leaves some bewildered, others have found it soothing, citing Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) as the reason.
ASMR is a form of paresthesia brought on by auditory or visual stimuli that usually involves a pleasant tingling sensation running along the skin and spine that elicits feelings described as “low grade euphoria.”
Of course, like virtually everything on the internet, Bread Face’s content is also interpreted as sexual in nature (see sploshing), with Bread Face telling Business Insider, “Turns out, [sticking my face into bread] makes a lot of people confused or aroused.”
Others classify Bread Face as a performance artist.
Described as “the best performance artist you’ll never know,” Bread Face was a standout at the Seattle Art Fair in 2019, where, in an “entertaining” performance that “shocked and awed visitors” (according to art & culture publication Juxtapoz), she publicly smashed her face into baked goods and encouraged audience members to do the same.
Be it performance art or porn, Bread Face’s videos have become lucrative, securing brand partnerships and earning money through additional content behind paywalls on OnlyFans and Patreon.
What’s Bread Face’s favorite baked good for #breadfacing?
She says the unhealthy stuff feels best, telling Business Insider, “The least nutritional [breads] tend to be the most pleasing to the face which, I’m sure, is no accident. The most pleasing and addicting things in life are usually things we find irresistible.”
