Society’s Thirst for These Infamous Criminals Needs to Be Studied

Perhaps it’s the bad boy/bad girl angle that makes folks yearn for murderers and the like. I can’t really say. But the fact is, we have a problem as a society with sexualizing these truly despicable humans.
Obviously this unique fantasy has come to light in recent years thanks to our general obsession with true crime, and shows such as Monster which ultimately glorify these infamous criminals. We saw it with the Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and we’re seeing it again with The Ed Gein Story.
Obviously attraction is objective, so it’s not like there’s necessarily a way to ‘fix’ this. I’d just like to point out that – for better or worse – this true crime obsession is real.
