There’s a reason why the Academy Awards have a specific category just for original screenplays, because odds are if you’re watching a movie, it probably started out as a book.
Or a stage play. Or a graphic novel. Or any other sort of media that was not yet the silver screen.
But you might not have known that some of our most classic works of film had their humble beginning as novels — which is good news if you’ve been itching to reexperience the story of something like The Princess Bride but have already watched the movie a billion times.
Go pick up the book version of any one of these movies. It’ll be a whole different experience.
(…For better or worse. You decide!)
