When you think of the word “design,” you probably think of something beautiful or at least aesthetically pleasing in some way.
When you think of “functional,” you probably think of something that works well and is effective.
So, functional design = something that works well and looks good…?
I would say that the Plague Doctor was none of those things. Despite that, the aesthetic has become etched into popular culture – we all know what it is.
