About a month ago, Laura made a fantastic list of gnarly films to get high as hell to watch. I’m not gonna lie, it made me want to make a list of my own movies to contribute, but I wanted to have a slightly different focus.
The movies Laura chose were awesome; there’s literally not a single movie in her list that I wouldn’t recommend to movie fans worth their salt (especially Mandy, that’s a favorite movie around the office here). They’re also, as she described in the title of her post, “gnarly.” As in, you have to be a certain type of stoner to enjoy the likes of Naked Lunch or Under the Skin or Mad God while high. They’re very intense films, so I’m taking this in a slightly different direction.
Instead of “gnarly,” I’m going for “bizarre” movies. Some of the films in here have nightmarish imagery, some of them don’t, but all of them are wholly unique films that become even more unique when you’re in an altered state of mind.
So, gobble your edibles and get ready to explore galaxies of cinematic weirdness you never knew even existed.
