An Oldie But A Goldie Film Review: The Last Waltz (1976)

THIS FILM SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD!
I’ve had this on my watchlist for nearly two decades. Finally, I got to see it with my dad in the theater, in glorious 4K Criterion Restoration.
Below, I’ve attached my thoughts of the film and specific moments alongside some clips of the live performances. It’s truly a great experience to see The Band organize such an event and bring out some of the most talented musicians of that era.
Everything in this is sheer brilliance. Loved every performance with Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, and Bob Dylan being my favourite.
Just a couple of Canadian (and 1 American) fellas making down south American bluesy rock with every instrument and voice ever imagined…
