[SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR FOLLOW]
I remember watching Avengers: Infinity War on its premiere night in the most vivid way. Two rows ahead of me in an IMAX theater were a group of kids (most of them between nine and twelve if I had to guess). When Tony Stark got stabbed by Thanos, I remember them screaming in horror, but when Tony survived there was some relief.
Until “the snap.” These kids LOST THEIR GODDAMN MINDS. I think for those kids, it was how I felt watching Mufasa die in The Lion King as a kid, or how generations ago felt about Bambi’s mom.
But even the adults were horrified. When the end credits started with the Avengers: Infinity War logo faded into ashes, a grown man just quietly said:
“Fuck dude.”
