Look, I’m a big movie geek, but I don’t like talking about Star Wars these days. It just starts arguments too bitter to describe, but I don’t think it’s too controversial to say that Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace is… Mostly a bad movie. The acting is pretty bad, the shoe-horned references to the original trilogy are poorly placed, the dialogue is all over the place, and the existence of Jar Jar Binks doesn’t help things.
But, the “Duel of the Fates” (the fight between Darth Maul, Qui-Bon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi) is simply incredible. It’s arguably the best fight scene in any Star Wars film ever made, and it’s the number one reason I go back and watch this movie at all.
With that in mind, we decided to ask all of you on our Instagram page what the best scenes were in otherwise bad movies, and you delivered some pretty great candidates (and I’m sure no one, absolutely no one, will be upset by some of the films picked).
