“Dune: Part Two” Review: Dark, gorgeous, emotional sci-fi spectacle at its finest (12 GIFs)
Reviewing any adaptation of Dune is a gargantuan task, just for the angles of approach you can take on the material. Do you evaluate it as a faithful adaptation? Do you separate the film from the book completely and take the film only on its merits? Do you acknowledge the ways in which the novel Dune has influenced other films and compare it against those projects? The questions are endless.
As someone who read the first three Dune novels back in high school and watched the 2000 Sci-Fi Channel mini-series several times as a kid (I’m not a fan of the David Lynch film, except for its excellent art direction), you’d think it would be hard for me to separate this adaptation of the book from its source. Yet, having seen Dune: Part Two, I firmly believe that combined with its predecessor, Dune: Part One (2021), this is the most interesting cinematic adaptation of Dune in its history.
