Yeah, yeah, the movie came out on June 11, 1986, but popular culture (ie, the internet) widely recognizes June 5, 1985, as the fateful day that Ferris and the gang skipped school and hit the big city.
This date is largely cited as the Day Off due to it being when the Chicago Cubs faced off against the Atlanta Braves in the footage shown in the movie.
Others point to sometime in September, given the Von Steuben Day Parade that Ferris infiltrates, which historically takes place around Prussian general Baron Friedrich von Steuben’s birthday on September 17.
