I remember how excited I was when the trailer dropped for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
While the premise in and of itself was captivating, the idea of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Margot Robbie, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, and countless other big names, all sharing a screen together in a 60s period piece had me salivating to pre-order a ticket.
That’s the power of a stacked cast.
Luckily, it lived up to the hype. But a deep roster of A-list talent is no guarantee of a good movie, and Hollywood has proven that more times than anyone would like to admit.
Sometimes the script isn’t there. Sometimes the director drops the ball. Sometimes a film that looked like a sure thing on paper turns out to be a spectacular waste of everyone involved.
