My wife and I have two go-to movies. Like, the kind of “I want to watch something but don’t feel like really paying attention” type of movies.
Mine in Mean Girls. My wife’s is Jurassic Park.
Sort of the opposite of who those movies were made for…
But here’s the thing about Mean Girls. It works for everyone. Like, a gaggle of girls can watch it at a sleepover and a grown-ass man (myself) can watch it stoned on a Friday night.
The jokes have depth, the pacing is good, and Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert are all nice to look at.
Plus, Tina Fey wrote it and Tim Meadows is funny.
Anyway. Somehow, Mean Girls came out 22 years ago today (April 30, 2004), and it’s built up a cultish following. One of those flicks I’ll tune into every time with a few jokes that slap.
And I’m not scared to admit it.
