But I’m willing to bet that, in one way or another, you’re familiar with his work. One of the most versatile directors of all time, the British cult legend passed away from a long battle with an illness, according to the British Film Institute.
His films earned 19 BAFTAs, 10 Golden Globes, and 10 Oscars, which is no small feat for a director who made only 14 feature-length films.
