‘Sandlot’ actor Marty York reminisces on working with late James Earl Jones

Last year I had the privilege of sitting down with The Sandlot actor, Marty York. As we talked about the importance and impact that this movie has had – and will continue to have on future generations of baseball fans – I decided to ask about some of the film icons who poured their hearts into this classic. As the gut-wrenching news of James Earl Jones’ death hit the airwaves yesterday, I was reminded of Marty York’s poignant answers.
Zach: You and Chauncey Leopardi (Squints) have great chemistry and banter in the film. Is it true that Chauncey asked James Earl Jones if he was Darth Vader?
Marty: I’m the one who asked James Earl Jones if he was Darth Vader! Not Chauncey.
