Scream King Skeet Ulrich Weighs in on Fear, Film, and Fatherhood
If any percentage of your childhood took place in the ’90s, then you know all about Skeet Ulrich. In honor of spooky season I had the privilege of sitting down with everyone’s favorite serial killer…Billy Loomis.
Zach: He’s the reason for the season. It’s Skeet Ulrich! How’s it going, man?
Skeet Ulrich: Very good, very good! It is that season, although it’s like 95 degrees in Los Angeles. But thanks for having me. I really appreciate it and let’s get rolling!
Zach: So you recently attended ScareFest. You’re really diving into these horror and comic-cons. How fulfilling is that for you just to see firsthand how important your work has been to so many fans?
Skeet: It’s been real eye-opening, to be honest – I think it really forwards the notion of how important art is to a society. I’ve had a number of people throughout the years that mention how this film or that film got them through a tough time, or bonded their family together, or has meant so much in so many different ways.
It really brings to mind the importance of what we do. And it’s not just something that you throw out into the void for your own ego. There’s a lot to it. There’s a lot of warmth. Matt Lillard and I make a real point of extending our gratitude. Most people sit behind the tables at these things, and we stand right out in front, and greet every person with hugs and an openness to really try to get to know them in the little bit of time we have together.
We don’t take it with a grain of salt. They’re really rewarding and fulfilling in so many ways.
