I’m a big horror fan. It took many years to get there, but I’m finally there and loving it. But the genre has struggled like a motherfucker in the 2000s, especially on the American side of things.
Since 2010 though, the horror genre has been way on the come-up, to the point that the Academy Awards, normally a staunchly anti-horror institution, gave Get Out the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. And with last weekend’s release of Us, it’s clear the genre’s eternal status remains untouched. To celebrate that, let’s take a look at the biggest horror films of the decade so far, ranked by biggest opening weekend.
