‘The Mask’ turns 30 years old and we’ve got the details you may have missed
30 years ago today, New Line Cinema released The Mask. The comedy is the 2nd of Jim Carrey’s iconic 1994 three-film run which included Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Dumb and Dumber.
The Mask also marked the beginning of Cameron Diaz’s acting career (one that may have stalled if the role of Tina Carlyle had gone to Anna Nicole Smith who was originally being considered.)
The movie was shot on a budget of around $20 million and became the most profitable film based on a comic book at the time. It brought it in nearly $352 million worldwide at the box office.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary, we’ve compiled some fun facts and hidden details.
