Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of my all-time favorite movies. But I can say whole-heartedly that the entire Ferrari storyline is where my anxiety as a human being began. Even though my parents were poor, just the idea of them owning something valuable, and me destroying it (accidentally or on purpose) sent shivers down my spine.
But the fact that we never even see Morris Frye on screen is just that much scarier. It’s the thought that we’ve all had at one point in our lives, “I’m going to be in so much trouble when my dad gets home.”
I’d like to send a warm thank you to John Hughes for scarring me for life with this absolutely chaotic rise and fall of a goddamn sports car. Thanks, man.
