What a milestone. The movie/musical, The Sound of Music is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The film was released on March 2, 1965. The movie was adapted from the 1959 stage musical, and grossed over $286 million worldwide against a budget of $8.2 million.
At the 1966 Academy Awards, The Sound of Music hit pay dirt including best director and best picture.
