Nat: Well, I didn’t want to. We got an offer to do it, and I was supposed to start med school.

Zach: Wow!

Nat: I graduated. University of Colorado. And spent a year applying to med schools, and got accepted right as we kind of started doing stuff. And so I was like to our manager, “Man, I’d love to do it, but I gotta hop off the tour 3 or 4 weeks early so I can start school.”

We started up and within a week we’re showing up to towns that we never played before, and there’d be thousands of people rocking with us. So a light went off in my head. And these guys were so nice and made so much room for me to be able to have the decision. So I ended up writing them and being like, “Hey, I’d like a deferral a year.” And then they gave me 4 consecutive years of deferral.

I remember the second day, though, I had sunstroke. I hadn’t figured out the hydration thing. I was like, “I can’t do this, man.”

Sean: It’s not for the the faint of heart for sure. I remember we were lucky because our first experience with the full tour, we rented out some spots on a bus. So we shared a bus with some vendors and then Pierce The Veil.

Zach: Oh, cool!

Sean: It’s already a hard experience to do a van tour or something like that, but at least you know, “Okay, we show up last for soundcheck so we can get some sleep in the morning.” It’s fun like that, because obviously the fans have to get there early too. It’s not like they can just cherry pick bands they want to see.
