We’ve still got about half a year to rewatch the previous seasons and formulate theories on who will win it all. Personally, I’m still calling a Jon Snow victory followed by a crown handoff to Sam. But with all the twists and turns this show has thrown us over the better part of the last decade, it’s impossible to say (though I’ll be amazed if they can find a way to make the final twist more unexpected than the Hodor reveal).

Also, there’s so much in play right now that it will be extremely difficult to wrap everything up without it feeling abrupt; it’s already started to feel more rushed and less plot-focused since the show eclipsed the books, and I hope the show figures out its pacing without their aid. And I know author George R.R. Martin has given the guidelines for how he envisions it ending, but part of me thinks he’ll write an alternate and far superior ending when he finally finishes the written form — just a “fuck you” to all of us for rushing his masterpiece.
