You ever try watching a show “just once” out of boredom, curiosity, or maybe because you were tired of searching for something else, and then a month later you’re 5 seasons deep into said show, obsessed? Well, such is the case for me with “Schitt’s Creek,” which you can find on Netflix or as it airs originally on the Pop Network. The comedy’s co-creators Daniel Levy and Eugene Levy (Daniel’s real-life father) have concocted something truly original, that’s hilarious, while simultaneously endearing & sweet.
The premise is simple enough, what would happen if a prominent & wealthy family lost everything and was forced to turn to their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt’s Creek, which they had bought their son as a joke birthday gift back in 1991. The family, which are every shade of “Extra” (I think that’s how the kids are describing this personality these days) are stuck living in and managing a quaint motel together.
Below is a small, unfortunately, inadequate taste of the surprise hit comedy, but if it convinces even a small portion of you guys to give it a crack I highly recommend the watch. It’s fantastic from the beginning, but really hits its stride as a show by season 3 if you’re willing to stick with it. I digress. Enjoy some Schitt!
