25 Years of Super Bowl Commercials Crushing the Ratings
The Super Bowl is about a helluva lot more than football.
Sure, without football, we wouldn’t even have the Super Bowl, but it’s not just beefy boys tossin’ the ol’ pigskin that has many viewers tuning in.
From National Anthem performances to celebrity spotting to huge halftime shows, the Super Bowl is a massive money-making (and big-spending) operation.
And then there are the Super Bowl commercials.
In 2025, a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl costs around $7-8 million, with pre and post-game ads running between $4-4.5 million.
With Fox sold out of advertising space for Super Bowl LIX, it’s clear companies are willing to pay a steep price in order to reach this year’s anticipated live television audience of over 120 million.
