Yeah, That’s Not How Acronyms Work

I love when you see an acronym in the wild that completely misses the mark.

Driving the other day, I saw an acronym that said UNVAG. I tried my hardest to take a pic, I really did. But I thought I’d simply take note, instead of causing a 6-car pile-up on the highway, for the sake of a joke.

An acronym is supposed to simplify language or names by turning long phrases into short, memorable words or abbreviations — to make everything easier.

Shoutout to the acronym big boys: LOL, BTW, ASAP, FAQ for making life so much easier. I can’t imagine a world without them.

Here are some acronyms that really didn’t do their job. Missing either the general idea of what an acronym is, or forming a word that should never ever be posted in a public-facing window…
