Nothing beats a live sporting event . But between whistles, intermissions, and commercials, they also come with a lot of downtime.
That’s where mascots come into play. Often inspired by a local animal or legend, these costumed creatures serve one real purpose: entertain the crowd while the actual athletes catch their breath.
But not every mascot is cute and cuddly. Some are unsettling in ways that are hard to explain.
So, what’s the difference between a good and bad mascot?
The general rule of thumb is simple: animals, good. Abstract concepts, risky. Anything that even slightly resembles a human face? Never. Not once. Not ever.
Oh, and if most children that come into contact with it start crying, you probably need to workshop the costume a little more.
