I’ll admit it, I’m not usually one to tip at a coffee shop.
Or any other walk-up service kind of place, for that matter. I’ll definitely throw a few bucks at a pizza delivery guy, and offer up the usual 15% to 20% when dining in at a restaurant, but as someone who has worked at an over-the-counter kind of pizza place and didn’t expect a tip while slinging slices, I’ve never felt any strong inclination to tip at a register myself.
…That is, unless there’s some clever/funny/enticing sign asking for a tip, and I happen to have some change handy.
Whether or not these tip signs are fun and clever or shamelessly guilt-tripping is up to you!
