Just because being “fortunate” means positive things will happen doesn’t mean that all fortunes pan out for the best.
Some can actually be quite unfortunate, as is sometimes the case when it comes to everyone’s favorite (free) Chinese food dessert, the fabled fortune cookie.
Whether these recipients deserve their fate or not is up for interpretation, but either way, it’s a important lesson to be wary of putting your faith in wishes or tellers of fortunes.
