Much like apple pie, hamburgers, and good ol’ American football, the neon sign heralding a strip mall business is a classic fixture of North American life.
They, and their more modern LED neon flex brethren, have the added benefit of existing as independent letters much of the time, which means if one light breaks or burns out, it doesn’t extinguish the entire sign.
And those customers, they’ll still get the gist, right? Even if a few letters are on the fritz, surely there’s no way something unintentionally funny, or silly, or, god forbid, crude will result.
Oh, burnt out signage. We’ll never quit you.
