This pic is of Alex Honnold standing on a ledge – what people don’t get from this image which he has spoken about, and let’s the camera man know in this moment – was he was having a panic attack. A first for this professional free soloer. He had to give himself a minute and come to terms with where he was. It’s a powerful moment for someone who has climbed mountains and buildings with no safety equipment all his life.
A simple, You Good, Dude? was asked of him and he explained the situation. He took control. Centring his mind, body, and soul.
The other folks featured here, didn’t have the professionalism to get there, or at least get there in time. There’s some hard slams, awkward moments, and big fails up ahead.
