Opening Day is right around the corner for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs’ patron saint, Bill Murray, will be in likely be in Chicago, life-bombing fans around Wrigley Field and being generally mischievous I’m sure. This year will be a little different from years past. The curse has been lifted, fans are breathing easy. The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series since 1908.
Cubs owner Tom Ricketts told us last week, “Bill stayed with us through the lean times, many big names didn’t. I’ll never forget that. He’s a true fan.”
Bill might also be a superstitious fan as well. I was with Bill and his brothers in Chicago for the World Series last year and there were no shortage of Bill Murray moments. It began with Bill’s lucky charm, the William Murray ‘This is the Year’ polo he wore throughout the World Series.
Looking back, we did NOT want to name it ‘This is the Year’ – Seemed a little presumptive at the time. But Bill calmly said, “John, this is the year, I know a guy.” And that was that.
Minutes ago, we released the William Murray ‘This is the Year‘ Cubs polo. Just like last year, you have only one day to get this collectors’ edition polo, make all your friends jealous, and then it’s gone ’till next year.
