A few weeks ago, John posted a story on Chive Charities recipient Michael Sexton. Michael is a true Chiver and has been hitting SoCal unofficial meetups for the last few years – all the while dealing with a rare disease called Sarcoid Myopathy. It’s a disease that attacks your muscles, making them increasingly weak until they lose all their strength. There is no cure for the disease and it is nothing short of relentless as it attacks and breaks down muscle tissue. Michael is the only documented case in America since the early 1970s. The bar was set at a $50,000 goal for Chive Nation, and in true Chiver fashion, the goal was obliterated with over $94,000 donated.
A large portion of that came from Chive on Cali, a Bona Fide Chapter and one that Michael is a member of. Chive on Cali wanted to do something special for Michael, so they partnered with Harrah’s SoCal resort to throw a pool party. Michael was in attendance, had an amazing time, and Chive on Cali ended up raising a whopping $55,000. Amazing work.
Chive Nation meetups are in full-swing, so be sure to check out the ‘Events on the Horizon’ section and remember what momma told you: make us proud. Have a blast, keep it fun, get wasted, and tip the shit out of the staff.
