Rocky the Orangutan reminded humans all over the world of the power of compassion when a video of him meeting a burn victim went viral.
When Darci Miller, who suffered severe burns in 2015, visited the zoo, she had a special interaction with Rocky. The Orangutan approached Miller and was clearly concerned about her wounds, gesturing for her to show the extent of the injury. Though Rocky couldn’t do anything to help through the glass, it’s easy to see how badly he wished to do so.
Miller, who has been struggling to cope with her burns, was moved by her visit with the primate.
“The orangutan was completely interested in my burn scars and recent surgery sights . . . I am a burn survivor from 2015, it has been up and down but this particular day made me feel really good about myself.”
