Fallout 4 is full of different companions that you can team up with to explore the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Out of all the characters that you can team up with to explore, none sticks out more than the first companion you come across; a German Shepard named “Dogmeat.” Many of us have spent countless hours traversing the game with the four-legged friend by our side.
For the game, Dogmeat was modeled after one of the game developer’s dogs named River. Developer Joel Burgess took to twitter today to share the heartbreaking news that River has passed away.
In a series of tweets, Burgess goes into details about River and the impact she had on the game and the character that we know and love. Here is her story:
