When I first met Kenze in Lincoln, Nebraska, times were dark… literally. Kenze has Mast Cell Activation Disorder, meaning her cells go to battle against each other in one big allergic reaction cage match. Going outside was like walking into a pollen storm, too much light could even cause a seizure. The blinds in Kenze’s home were mostly drawn shut. The outside world was off limits.
