Anybody who has paid attention to my ‘Valentine’s Day Sucks‘ posts over the years, knows well that I’m not a big fan of this holiday. I mean, all the pressure to make your significant other feel warm and “special” by spending exorbitant amounts of money on flowers, candies, meals and beyond. And that’s just the financial cost, you also have to make sure you come up with thoughtful and creative ways to woo your partner. It’s a lose-lose scenario so often, and a great deal of stress to manage.
But, it’s not just the men who feel the anxiety of the romantic holiday. Ladies, feel the pain as well. Take for instance Twitter user Miss Sanders who shared a story of time back in 10th grade. She had asked her father to let her stay home on Valentine’s Day to avoid the depressing feeling of seeing others receiving Valentine’s Day gifts, while never garnering any of her own.
Thankfully, her father had other ideas in mind, and insisted that she attend school anyways.
I’ll let Miss Sanders take it away from here…
