Stephen Hawking, the renowned physicist, scientist and professor, passed away early this morning at his home in Cambridge England at the age of 76. His death, curiously on both Pi Day and Albert Einstein’s birthday, leaves as Neil deGrasse Tyson would put it “an intellectual vacuum in its wake.”
Hawking was given only a few years to live back in 1963. His disease, known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease, left him wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. However, that never did stop him from roaming the entirety of the cosmos. We’ll miss you, Stephen.
